Betta Edu loses access to funds as EFCC freezes all her personal accounts

As investigation into the alleged diversion of N585 million funds deepens, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has frozen the bank accounts of suspended Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.

This measure aims to safeguard the integrity of the ongoing investigations.

This means all of Betta Edu’s personal bank accounts have been frozen, preventing her from conducting financial transactions or accessing her funds.

As a result, she is currently unable to make withdrawals, deposits, or conduct any banking activities.

Neptune Prime reports that the anti-graft agency equally seized the passports of both Betta Edu and her predecessor, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, to prevent their departure from the country while investigations are ongoing.

The Commission has similarly seized the passport of Mrs. Halima Shehu, pending the conclusion of the investigations.

This move demonstrates the EFCC’s commitment to ensuring that individuals under scrutiny remain within the country until all pertinent questions have been addressed.
