Court cancels Rivers State’s 2024 budget under Gov. Fubara
The Federal High Court in Abuja has invalidated the presentation and passage of Rivers State‘s 2024 budget.
Justice James Omotoso delivered the ruling, directing Governor Siminalaye Fubara to re-present the budget before the legally constituted House of Assembly, presided over by Speaker Martin Amaewhule.
The budget had been initially presented by a group of four-member legislators in the state.

Justice Omotoso further declared null and void the redeployment of the Clerk and Deputy Clerk by Governor Fubara and ordered the Inspector General of Police to provide adequate security to Speaker Amaewhule and legislators aligned with former Governor Nyesom Wike.
Additionally, the Justice instructed the Governor to release all funds held in the credit of the House of Assembly to Speaker Amaewhule.
