Customs CG commits to transparent financial auditing with Public Accounts Committee
The Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, has affirmed the commitment to enhance transparency in its financial records for effective auditing of accounts.
During an appearance before the House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee in Abuja on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, the CGC emphasized the National Customs Service’s (NCS) use of integrated technology for revenue collection for over two decades, involving more than 20 commercial banks in the process.

He elaborated on the service’s contract with these banks, providing access to a technology platform for collecting payments, with the funds being remitted directly to the federation accounts by the banks.
Additionally, the Comptroller General assured close collaboration with the Committee, stating, “Compliance is of utmost importance to us, and we are committed to addressing any areas that require our attention to promote efficiency. My team and I are prepared to present our statements to the committee in the most transparent manner.”
Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Bamidele Salami, advised the NCS to consistently provide audited statements of accounts and uphold all legal requirements.
