Ex-tennis champion Jacqueline Okwueze found wandering in Awka, mentally unstable (Video)

Former Nigerian professional tennis player, Jacqueline Okwueze, has been discovered in a state of mental instability, wandering the streets of Awka, Anambra State.

Jacqueline, who represented Nigeria in tennis during the 1990s, is of mixed parentage, with a mother from Belarus and a father of Igbo extraction.

A video shared by @chude_ on X shows the former tennis champion in an unstable state, seen begging for money and drinks.

In the video, Jacqueline conversed with an unidentified man, appearing to nurse a wound on her left leg. She mentioned being a former lawn tennis player who feels abandoned and stated that she has been labeled a prostitute in the area, facing pressure to return to her country despite identifying herself as an Igbo lady.

Expressing her challenges, she stated, “I was a former lawn tennis champion in Nigeria. I don’t know if you are familiar with Tanya Okpala and Jacqueline Okwueze during those days. I played tennis for Nigeria and Africa.”

Though asked about seeking help or using recreational centers for her well-being, Jacqueline declined to respond, stating, “I think if somebody is very mentally sick, I don’t think it is my business how the person is taking care of himself or herself.”

  1. The woman in that video is not Jacqueline Okwueze. If you continue sharing the video as Jacqueline Okwueze, you risk being sued for mistaken identification damages.

The editors of Tribune Online and several bloggers should retract or delete their report.
Jacqueline Okwueze (PhD) is not the woman seen on the streets of Awka. Apologise to those we may have misinformed.
