Fire consumes 10-storey Mandilas building in Lagos, causing millions in damages
A fierce fire erupted on Sunday, engulfing the renowned 10-storey Mandilas Building situated on Broad Street, Lagos Island. The devastating incident, occurring around 1:15 p.m., wreaked havoc on the structure, destroying items and properties valued at several million naira.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire started when businesses were yet to open for the day, sparing potential casualties. Margaret Adeseye, Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the absence of recorded casualties, offering some relief amid the calamity.
The origin of the inferno was traced to a warehouse on the building’s first floor before rapidly spreading to other levels. Prompt response teams, including the state Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Police, and various emergency responders, swiftly mobilized to the scene to quell the intensifying blaze.

As of the latest update, the cause of the fire remains unknown, with ongoing rescue operations and investigations to ascertain the incident’s origins.
