Gabriel Martinelli’s double secures Arsenal’s 5-0 victory against Palace

Arsenal returned to winning ways with a convincing 5-0 victory against Crystal Palace at the Emirates on Saturday.

The Gunners secured their first league win in the New Year, kick-starting the game with an 11th-minute header by Brazilian defender Gabriel, who powered the ball past Henderson after a corner kick from Declan Rice.

Henderson added an own goal to Arsenal’s lead after the ball struck the back of his head, causing controversy among the Palace players who felt it was due to an obstruction from Ben White.

Arsenal extended their lead thanks to a counterattack initiated by goalkeeper Raya, with Gabriel Jesus passing the ball to Belgian teammate Trossard, who netted the ball past Henderson.

Palace remains five points clear of the relegation zone with 21 points.
