Gov. Oyebanjo urges security agents to arrest killers of 2 Ekiti traditional rulers

The Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Abidodun Oyebanjo, has expressed sadness and sent condolences of the government and people of Ekiti State to the people of Imojo Ekiti and Esun Ekiti over the gruesome murder of their traditional rulers.

Neptune Prime recalls that the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ogunsola were gruesomely murdered by unknown armed men after being ambushed while returning from a security meeting.

It was reported that the royal fathers were shot by the armed men.

The third traditional ruler who was in the company of the murdered royal fathers, the Alara of Ara-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, escaped from the attack.

The governor, who presided over the state security council meeting in Ado-Ekiti, barely an hour after the incident occurred, stated that all necessary actions will be taken to bring the perpetrators to justice, including the utilisation of technology for crime prevention and detection.

The Ekiti State Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode issued the governor’s directives stating that security agents had been dispatched to the area to bring the perpetrators of the gruesome act to book.

The governor also demanded in his directives that the people of the two towns remain calm and refrain from taking the law into their hands, assuring them that the state government is fully committed to serving justice to the tragic occurrence.

Oyebanjo asked security agencies in the state to be determined, alert, and attach utmost importance in the fight against insecurity in the state.
