Gunmen in Abuja abduct 7 family members, injure 2 police officers

Terrorists have attacked Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, kidnapping seven family members while two policemen sustained bullet injuries.

A middle-aged man, identified as Alhaji, was shot dead by the bandits after leading policemen to foil the kidnapping.

A resident of Bwari, Isaiah Samuel, explained that the gunmen invaded Zuma 1 in Bwari central ward, positioning themselves strategically before abducting the family members.

The alert was raised by the victims, and when Alhaji arrived with the police, the bandits shot and killed him.

The police engaged in a firefight with the gunmen, with two officers sustaining gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts, the gunmen managed to escape with the abducted family members.

This incident adds to a series of kidnappings and killings in Bwari over the past few weeks, prompting residents to call for urgent intervention by the authorities to address the security situation.

The FCT Police Command’s spokeswoman, SP Adeh Josephine, has been contacted but is yet to provide a response.

The situation in Bwari is dire, with bandits moving from one community to another, causing fear and unrest among the residents.
