Pastor Solomon Ufot Oton, associated with Mount Zion Light House in Akwa Ibom State, has been apprehended by the state police for reportedly abducting and impregnating a teenage girl.
The Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, shared the details during a 4th quarter briefing at the Command Headquarters in Uyo.
According to Durosinmi, the 16-year-old girl, Okpo Eunice Kingsley, was allegedly abducted and held captive by the pastor for three days. During this time, she was threatened and hypnotized not to reveal the actions to her parents. Subsequently, the girl became pregnant after reportedly being sexually assaulted by the suspect.

The situation took a tragic turn when the pastor allegedly took the victim to a quack patent medicine dealer for an abortion, resulting in her paralysis. The girl was later taken to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) for further surgical operation. The CP confirmed that the suspect had confessed to the crime.
During the last quarter of 2023, a total of 562 suspects were arrested for various offenses, including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, and stealing. While some suspects have been charged to court, others are either under investigation or have been granted bail.
The CP commended the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for providing 14 gunboats to enhance security measures.
He said the additional gunboats are expected to aid the police and other security agencies in addressing criminal activities in the waterways. The commissioner urged individuals involved in illicit activities to reconsider their choices or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
