Insecurity: Wike meets heads of security agencies, traditional leaders

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has convened an urgent security meeting in response to the deteriorating security situation in the nation’s capital.

Reports of bandits breaking into homes and abducting residents have led to heightened concern.

Earlier this week, several residents, including a 13-year-old secondary school student, were killed due to failure to meet ransom demands.

During the ongoing meeting, Wike reassured FCT residents of their safety, emphasising the government’s commitment to providing the necessary support to security forces in combating insecurity.

Attendees at the meeting include heads of security agencies in the FCT, senior officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), local council chairpersons, and traditional leaders.

Wike urged area council chairpersons to fulfill their responsibilities at the local level.

He emphasised the importance of re-strategising and intensifying efforts to address security challenges in the territory.
