Kidnappers kill baker in Kaduna, abduct 13 of his relatives

Bandits have killed a 53-year-old baker, Mr Tijani Amedu, and abducted 13 of his relatives, who are mainly children, travelling alongside him in the Katari area of Kaduna State.
The Edo State-born businessman’s brother, Rasaq, in a telephone interview told newsmen that the incident happened on January 6, 2024, while the victims were returning to Kaduna after visiting Warri, Delta State.

Rasaq narrated a harrowing incident, revealing that his family faced a tragic attack during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
He said the siblings and their families, traveling back to Kaduna in two buses, were ambushed by bandits.
The assailants opened fire, forcing the first bus to escape, while the second bus, carrying Rasaq’s elder brother and 13 children, came to a halt.
The bandits abducted all occupants of the second bus, after the horrifying ordeal, family members only learned about the situation when the abducted children managed to communicate from their captivity.
