Kidnappers of Ekiti school pupils, teachers demand N30 million ransom

Gunmen have reportedly contacted the family of the abducted Ekiti State school children, requesting N30 million as ransom to release the five pupils, their teachers and a private school bus driver.

Neptune Prime reports that on Monday evening, kidnappers attacked a school bus and abducted everybody on board, including five pupils of The Apostolic Nursery and Primary School, Emure-Ekiti, three teachers, the driver and his conductor.

A source close to the family disclosed that the kidnappers had reached out to the family on Tuesday evening, asking for N30 million in exchange for the freedom of their victims.

In a related development, the joint operation team of Ekiti State Police Command, Amotekun, OPC, Civil Defence and Local Hunters on Tuesday arrested five suspected kidnappers, while on a bush combing operation through Oke-Osun, Ikere/Igbo-Okah to the thick forest around Iju/Ikere boundary.

During interrogation, the suspects were found with exhibits such as two motorcycles, one cutlass, one jack knife/ dagger and four phones.

The arrested suspects are Usman Jalili, Muhammad Bande, Abubakar Aliyu, Isah Abdullahi and Suleiman Abdullahi.
