In a clear demonstration of transparency and accountability, Rt. Honourable Adamu Tanko, member representing Suleja, Gurara, and Tafa Federal Constituency popularly known as ATL, hosted the ATL Maiden Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, 6th January 2024 to discuss crucial matters with community members.
The event, unaffiliated with any political party, drew a diverse audience, including opposition parties, critics, scholars, religious leaders, teachers, and various stakeholders, establishing itself as a true intellectual gathering.
Engineer Mukhtar Ahmed, former member representing the good people of Suleja, Gurara and Tafa federal constituency (2007-2011), played a pivotal role as the Chairman of the occasion, initiating an insightful exploration of the legislator’s role and responsibilities.
During the gathering, Dr Muhammad Awwal of the University of Abuja delivered a lecture titled “Towards a Purposeful Leadership: The Roles of a Successful Legislature.”
The representation of Honourable Lamir Umar, speaking on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the presence of figures like Honourable Abdullahi Suleiman (Play Cool), from the opposition party APC showcased the event’s inclusive nature.
Medical outreach activities conducted outside the hall further highlighted the event’s impact, providing check-ups and drug administration to less privileged constituents.
Similarly, the intellectual depth of the gathering, resonated throughout Suleja, earning praise for its unique approach to leadership transparency.
The Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Tajjudeen Abbas was ably represented by Honourable Lamir Umar, Special Adviser, Youth Matters.
Honourable Adamu Tanko, the event host, demonstrated exceptional leadership and educational prowess while addressing diverse questions, ranging from the education system to town progress.
A goodwill message from a party leader underscored Suleja’s excellent representation in the federal professional world under ATL’s leadership.
The ATL Maiden Town Hall Meeting not only set a new standard for community engagement but also unveiled ambitious plans for Suleja’s future. A significant question was when the President of the National Association of Suleja Students (NASS) posed critical questions to the Honourable, focusing on tertiary education in the region.
In response, Honourable Adamu Tanko passionately addressed the concerns, assuring that the creation of ICT tertiary institutions in Suleja is a top priority. His first bill, successfully passed in the House of Representatives, aligns with Senator Abubukar Lolo’s efforts towards this transformative goal.
