NDLEA in Kano arrests 198 suspects in drug joints, graveyards, recovers illicit substances

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano State Command has arrested 198 drug trafficking suspects and disembarked illicit drug joints in Kano State.
This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the agency, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, on Tuesday in Kano.
He said the arrests were carried out between January 17 and January 26.
The ongoing Operation Hana Maye (Operation Stop Drug Abuse) launched by the agency’s State Commander Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, is focused on fighting drug trafficking and abuse in Kano State.
The agency spokesperson disclosed that out of the 198 suspects arrested, 177 are males and 21 are females. He further stated that during the operation, the command recovered a substantial number of illicit substances such as Exol-5 rubber solution, cannabis, “suck and die” and other dangerous substances.
Mr Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari in his statements said, “Out of 198 suspects, 61 were arrested in a club that had been transformed into an illicit drug joint.

“The 42 suspects were arrested at Dan Agundi graveyard. 21 drug joints including Sheka graveyard, and Sheka Obajana were dismantled to create a safer environment and discourage drug-related activities in the state.”
He reiterated the agency’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking.
“We will continue to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend drug traffickers, disrupt drug supply chains, and provide necessary support and rehabilitation to those affected by drug addiction.
As the fight against illicit drug continues, he urged the general public to place their trust in the agency, remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug abuse and trafficking to the appropriate authorities.
