Ondo Gov Aiyedatiwa dismisses cabinet appointed by late Akeredolu

The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council, effective immediately.

In an official statement released by the governor’s spokesman, Ebenezer Adeniyan, it was confirmed that, “all members of the Cabinet, who were appointed by late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, are instructed to promptly hand over their responsibilities to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices”.

Furthermore, Aiyedatiwa has also relieved all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) of their duties.

“The affected officials have been directed to ensure the handover of all government properties in their possession”.

The governor extended his gratitude to the affected officials for their dedicated services and contributions to the development of the State.

Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who formerly served as the deputy governor of Ondo State, was inaugurated as the substantive governor of the South-West state on December 27, 2023, following the unfortunate passing of Governor Akeredolu.

It is worth noting that the former deputy governor withstood an impeachment attempt by some of Akeredolu’s allies in the Ondo State House of Assembly during the period when the ex-governor was indisposed.
