Orphans in Katsina celebrate as 900 receive free lunch from Islamic NGOs (Pictures)

Story from Abbas Bamalli

In a heartwarming event at the Katsina orphanage home, over 900 orphans experienced sheer excitement as they received a complimentary lunch, generously provided by international Islamic NGOs.

The gesture was orchestrated by Amir Sultana from Turkey, in collaboration with Munazzama Da’awa Al-Islam (MADA) from Sudan, working in conjunction with the Office of the Katsina State Governor’s Wife, Hajiya Zulaihat Radda.

The leader of the NGOs, Mufti Ahmed, highlighted that approximately 700 orphans in Katsina Local Government Area (LGA) and 200 in Jibia were beneficiaries of this noble initiative.

Ahmed emphasized that their aim was to bring smiles to the faces of the less privileged, particularly the orphans, showcasing the organisations’ commitment to philanthropy.

Funds for the initiative were sourced through contributions from the affluent and individuals who trust the NGOs.

Mufti Ahmed explained, “Through the support, we have constructed about 36 boreholes in different locations in the state.” He further stated, “It’s part of our gesture to use the remaining funds to put a smile on the faces of less privileged people, especially the orphans in our societies. Part of our gestures was distribution of the Holy Qur’an and disbursement of financial support to less privileged people.”

In addition to the heartening lunch, the organisations also donated $400 to the orphans, further enhancing the impact of their benevolent actions.

Alhaji Isah Muhammad-Musa, the Commissioner for Special Duties, lauded the NGOs’ gesture, noting that it complemented the efforts of Governor Dikko in supporting the less privileged and orphans in the state.

He revealed that the governor’s wife is set to embark on a similar compassionate endeavor soon, reinforcing the commitment to uplifting those in need within the community.
