Police uncover officer in viral video demanding bribe from motorist

The Police Command in Lagos State has successfully identified the officer depicted in a widely circulated video seeking a bribe from a motorist.

According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, ASP Luka Bashayi, stationed at Ogudu Area Command,has been identified, and an investigation into the incident has been initiated.

He made this disclosure on his verified X handle @benHundeyin on Saturday.

“We will not gloss over this. He is ASP Luka Bashayi, serving at Ogudu Area Command. The Lagos Police Complaint Unit (CRU) has commenced actions on this,” stated the police spokesperson.

In the viral video, the officer can be seen pressuring the motorist for a bribe, asserting that the motorist won’t be allowed to leave until the demanded amount is paid.

The officer even provided his bank account details, insisting on a financial transfer before permitting the motorist to proceed.

The police assure the public that appropriate actions will be taken in response to this misconduct.
