Public outcry trails death of Yobe housewife killed by husband

Civil society groups, including legal experts, human rights advocates, and the Nigeria Union of Journalists, are demanding justice in the wake of the horrifying murder of Ammi Adamu in Damaturu, Yobe State.

The tragic incident occurred on January 4, when Ammi Adamu was reportedly brutally killed in her sleep at her New Bra-Bara Estate residence. Both the victim and her husband, Abubakar Musa, held positions at Yobe State University.

According to eyewitness reports, Ammi Adamu was stabbed in the neck while sharing her bed with her husband. Abubakar Musa has been taken into police custody as the primary suspect in the heinous crime.

The shocking nature of the event has sparked widespread public outcry, with a collective call for an expeditious and thorough investigation to bring the perpetrator to justice.

The Yobe State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, led by chairperson Rajab Mohammed and Secretary Alhassan Mamuldo, has strongly condemned the killing. The council is urging authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder.

Likewise, the Women-led Civil Society Organisations Network Yobe State (WOLNY) expressed deep concern over the gruesome incident. WOLNY is advocating for a meticulous investigation to ensure that the perpetrator faces the full consequences of the law. The network has expressed solidarity with the victim’s family and is committed to ongoing advocacy until justice prevails.
