Week in Review: Yobe State Governor takes proactive steps in Abuja

Governor Mai Mala Buni’s unwavering commitment to the development of Yobe state is evident in his proactive governance approach. Rather than remaining within the confines of the Government House, Damaturu, Governor Buni consistently strives to address challenges and seek opportunities for growth.

According to Yusuf Ali, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Communications and Strategy, Governor Buni’s recent engagements in Abuja underscore his dedication to leveraging national platforms for the advancement of Yobe state.

These efforts have yielded positive results, as the governor remains steadfast in his pursuit of the best outcomes for his state.

During the review week, Governor Buni engaged in discussions with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to highlight the significant improvement in security across the state and address ongoing security challenges.

Additionally, he intricately addressed security matters with the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Geidam.

Governor Buni also explored trade and economic collaboration opportunities between Yobe and Qatar in discussions with the Qatar Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Ali Ghanem Alhajri.

Emphasizing Yobe’s potential as a leading producer of Sesame seeds, Gum Arabic, and livestock for international trade, Governor Buni highlighted the forthcoming International Cargo Airport in Damaturu as a catalyst for international trade between Qatar and the northeastern states.

Governor Buni’s participation in the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja further showcased his commitment to unifying the country and spearheading policies for national vision and development.

Recognising Governor Buni’s inclusive leadership and infrastructural advancements, the Independent Newspaper nominated him as the ‘2023 Man of the Year.’

The nomination highlights his administration’s achievements and dedication to meeting the needs of the people through substantial progress across various sectors.

In response to the nomination, Governor Buni expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized his dedication to uplifting the lives of the people of Yobe state.
