Yobe Education Commissioner urges principals to improve teaching, learning methods

Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris, the Commissioner for the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in Yobe State, has called on principals of public schools to enhance their teaching methods to impart sound knowledge to students.

The commissioner made this statement during a training session for principals held at the Government Girls Unity College in Damaturu.

He emphasised the fundamental role of teaching methods in achieving educational objectives, stressing that the commitment of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration to education requires the active participation of teachers, especially principals.

He urged the principals to conduct daily assessments, update scheme of work, and adhere to syllabi for improved academic performance.

Similarly, Dr. Idris encouraged them to report any teacher who is consistently absent and keep track of both student and teacher attendance.

While highlighting the government’s dedication to improving education, the commissioner mentioned the distribution of learning materials in Damaturu, with plans to extend it to all public schools across the 17 local government areas of the state.

Notable attendees at the training are the Permanent Member 1 of SUBEB, the Executive Director of the Agency for Mass Education, and directors from the ministries of Basic Education, SUBEB, TSB, and STSB.
