Yobe to distribute over N1 billion learning materials to Almajiri, public schools (Photos)

The Secretary to the Yobe State Universal Basic Education Board, Malam Isa Shettima, has revealed plans for a comprehensive distribution of learning materials aimed at elevating education in Yobe State.

Malam Shettima revealed this to newsmen in Damaturu on Wednesday.

According to him, the slated distribution, set to kick off early next week, will include diverse array of educational resources such as books, bags, whiteboards, chalks, markers, phones for teachers, uniforms, laptops, projector, textbooks, novels, and various essential materials.

Shettima underscored the proactive nature of the initiative, acknowledging it as a response to the challenges confronting the state’s educational sector.

Highlighting the inclusivity of the distribution, he emphasised that it extends beyond government public schools to encompass Almajiri schools across the state.

He stated, “The comprehensive range of items, valued at over N1 billion, reflects an overwhelming effort to bring about a transformative impact in the educational landscape. The contributions from UNICEF and other international organisations, coupled with substantial financial investments by the Yobe government, stress the significance of the initiative.”

To ensure fair and effective distribution of the educational materials, the Board plans to visit all 17 local governments in the state.

Additionally, teachers, integral to the educational ecosystem, will receive digital devices to enhance their teaching methodologies.

On his part, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idriss, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening the educational sector.

He said despite all challenges, the government pledges to overcome obstacles and work tirelessly towards improvements.
