Kidnappers in Abuja collect N8.5m ransom, demand 2 Bajaj motorcycles to release 11 victims

The nation’s capital city has seen an unprecedented increase in the heinous activities of kidnappers and other criminal elements; the most recent of which is the demand for two brand new Bajaj motorcycles after they collected a ransom of N8.5 million to free their victims.

Neptune Prime gathered that the terrorists collected N8.5 million before releasing four among 17 people, including a nurse at Kawu in Bwari area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), they have made a new demand of two motorcycles to secure the freedom of the remaining eleven victims in captivity.

It could be recalled that the bandits invaded Kawu community on December 26, 2023, and abducted 23 persons.

Four among them had escaped, leaving behind 17 others in captivity.

The bandits were said to have threatened to kill the remaining eleven over delayed ransom.

Speaking with newsmen on Friday, a family member of one of the victims, Bala Dantani, said the ransom was paid in tranches.

He said a sum of N5 million was raised and handed over to the bandits, after they threatened to kill the captives two weeks ago.

According to him, another N3.8 million was taken to the bandits on Tuesday, including food stuff and drugs as well as wines, after the leader had promised to release the victims.

“And while waiting for their calls to tell us locations where to pick the victims on that Tuesday, the man who took the ransom to them came back that the bandits were again demanding for two motorcycles before they will release the remaining eleven victims,” he said.
