PDP urges probe over Tinubu’s N500m minimum wage committee approval
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is demanding a National Assembly investigation into the alleged approval of N500 million, the first part of a reported N1 billion approval by President Bola Tinubu, for the inauguration of a 37-member Tripartite Committee on the New National Minimum Wage.
A leaked memo surfaced on Thursday, disclosing that President Tinubu allegedly sanctioned N500 million for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, for the inauguration of the committee.
PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, criticized the approval as a display of financial recklessness, calling it “the height of profligacy, imprudence, and financial recklessness.”
The party contends that this reveals a government marked by corruption and blatant treasury looting.

Amidst food shortages and economic challenges, the PDP finds it provocative that such a substantial amount is reportedly being spent on the inauguration of a committee.
The leaked memo suggests that the SGF initially requested N1.8 billion, which was later reduced to N1 billion, with President Tinubu allegedly directing to “start with N500 million first.”
