NNPC launches 13th sports fiesta in Abuja, promoting health, unity
The 13th edition of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Sports Fiesta is set to commence today, Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. The company aims to uphold its renowned status as the leading team in the Nigeria Oil & Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) scheduled for April this year.
Themed “Healthy Workforce, Productive Organisation,” this biennial event underscores NNPC Ltd’s commitment to recognizing the crucial role of physical well-being in enhancing organizational productivity among its employees.
The week-long sports extravaganza, concluding on Friday, February 23, 2024, will feature competitions in 13 games, including football, basketball, volleyball, chess, squash, scrabble, 8-ball pool, golf, tennis, table tennis, badminton, swimming, and athletics.

A highlight of the event will be a novelty match where the NNPC Ltd Football Team will face off against Ex-Super Eagles Stars, led by Nigeria’s legendary Captain, Austin JJ Okocha.
In a strategic restructuring, the six NNPC Ltd zones have been consolidated into three teams representing the company’s core values of Integrity (Port Harcourt/Benin), Excellence (Lagos/Warri), and Sustainability (Abuja/Kaduna).
This tournament aims to foster friendly yet spirited contests among the three teams while serving as a platform to identify potential flag bearers for NNPC Ltd at the upcoming Nigeria Oil & Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) in April 2024, where the company aims to defend its title as the Overall Winner.
