After announcement of N20 million bounty, police nab Abuja kidnap kingpin

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has apprehended Samaila Wakili Fafa, also known as Habu Ibrahim, one of the two wanted kidnappers FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, placed a N20 million bounty on.

A statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed that the arrest of the kidnapper took place on February 24, 2024, at approximately 7:05 pm.

The operation was carried out after operatives, acting on credible intelligence, conducted a raid on Sardauna Forest in Toto, Nasarawa State.

FCT Minister Wike had announced a N20 million bounty on two wanted bandits – Dahiru Adamu and Abu Ibrahim – who were causing terror in Abuja, the announcement was made during a meeting with FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, amidst the parade of 23 criminal suspects at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Garki, Abuja on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

Earlier, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the FCT Police Command had successfully captured Saidu Abdulkadir, also known as Dahiru Adamu, the first of the two wanted kidnappers, following a raid on the kidnappers’ hideouts at the border of Nasarawa and Abuja via Kuje Area Council on February 15, 2024, around midnight.

In his confession, the apprehended kidnapper revealed that his syndicate had been involved in various kidnappings within the FCT and its surroundings, including the abductions of Barrister Chris Agidy, legal aid to Senator Ned Nwoko, and Mr. Sunday Yahaya Zakwai, the district head of Ketti Village, both of whom tragically lost their lives.

The statement read, “The operatives of the FCT Police Command, in a continued effort against banditry in FCT and its environs, on February 24, 2024, at about 7:05 PM, acting on credible intelligence, stormed Sardauna Forest, Toto, Nasarawa State, and arrested one Samaila Wakili Fafa A.K.A Habu Ibrahim, a kidnap kingpin who has been on the wanted list of the Command for a long time and bounty placed on his head by the FCT Minister.

“The suspect is one of the two kidnappers the Honorable Minister FCT placed a bounty on, as the other one namely Saidu Abdulkadir A.K.A Dahiru Adamu, had earlier been arrested by the Command.

“He confessed that his syndicate masterminded and executed several kidnappings in FCT and its environs, including the abduction of Barrister Chris Agidy, the legal aid to Senator Ned Nwoko and Mr Sunday Yahaya Zakwai, the district head of Ketti Village, whom they later killed.

“Samaila Wakili further led police operatives to where they left the remains of Barrister Chris Agidy. The remains were recovered and deposited in Gwagwalada General Hospital.”

The PPRO said investigations were however still ongoing, adding that the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igwe, reiterated his commitment to combatting crime and criminality and ensuring the safety of residents.
