After reducing ransom to N40m, kidnappers release wife of slain Kwara monarch
Wife of slain Olukoro of Koro Ekiti in Kwara State, General Segun Aremu-Cole (retd), and two others who were kidnapped have reportedly regained their freedom.
The Asiwaju of Koro, Chief Samuel Ayobola, told National Pilot that they regained freedom Monday midnight.
“The news just received from home confirms that Olori and the girl have been released and have returned to Koro about 30 minutes ago,” he said.

Recall that the Olukoro of Koro Ekiti in Kwara State was killed after kidnappers attacked his palace and abducted his wife and another individual.
Oba Segun Aremu-Cole was said to be preparing for his dinner on February 1, 2024, when the gunmen stormed the palace at about 9pm.
The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N100 million for the freedom of the late monarch’s wife in their custody but later reduced it to N40 million after negotiations with the family.
It is however unclear if the family paid the ransom demanded to secure the Olori’s release.
