Bolaji Agbede becomes acting CEO of Access Holdings Plc
Access Holdings Plc has appointed Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer following the unexpected death of its former Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Herbert Wigwe.
The Board of Directors of Access Holdings Plc made the announcement on February 12, 2024.
Agbede, the most senior founding Executive Director in charge of Business Support within the company, is poised to lead Access Holdings Plc, pending approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
With an impressive professional background spanning nearly three decades, she brings a wealth of expertise and strategic acumen.

Her journey began in 1992 at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), where she steadily climbed the ranks to managerial positions by 2001.
In 2003, she assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at JKG Limited, a business consulting firm. Her association with Access Bank Plc began in 2003 as an Assistant General Manager, responsible for managing the bank’s portfolio of chemical trading companies.
The Acting CEO’s leadership qualities and strategic insight led her to serve as the Bank’s Head of Group Human Resources from 2010 to 2022.
Neptune Prime reports that Herbert Wigwe, the former Managing Director of Access Bank and current Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, met an untimely demise while aboard a helicopter with his family and three others.
The crash occurred near the California-Nevada border, en route to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl.
