Bureau De Change operators in Abuja çease operation over scarcity of dollar

Bureau De Change (BDC) operators have closed all operations in Abuja as a result of dollar scarcity.

Chairman of the Association, Malam Abdulahi Dauran, announced this in the nation’s capital, on Wednesday.

He attributed the development to online business transaction and cryptocurrency.

Daurau said the closure of business would take effect from Thursday, February 1, 2024.

The development comes hours after a senate panel summoned Olayemi Cardoso, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), over forex crisis.

Neptune Prime reports that Cardoso is expected to appear before the committee on Tuesday, 6th February 2024, to answer questions on the state of the economy and the free fall of naira in the forex market.

The naira at the official window on Tuesday, fell at an all-time low of N1,482 to $1.
