Driver found dead, as kidnapped Ekiti school children, staff regain freedom
After seven days in captivity, the pupils and staff of Apostolic Faith Group School in Emure have been released by their abductors. While the majority have been safely reunited with their families, a tragic loss has been reported.
Among the nine individuals kidnapped, five students and three staff members have been freed, however, the driver, Taye Rasaki, was tragically killed by the kidnappers during the abduction.
The abduction occurred when the group was ambushed by gunmen while traveling back to their homes, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of N100 million for each captive.
Despite a reduction in ransom to N15 million, the timely payment was not made, resulting in a threat to the lives of the victims.

However, on Sunday morning, the bandits released the abductees, bringing an end to their harrowing experience. While the majority were rescued, it is with deep sadness that we report the loss of the driver who was unexpectedly killed during the abduction.
Confirming the joy of their safe release, the Chairman of Emure Council Area, Hon. Adebayo Oluwatosin, and the Ekiti Police Command Public Relation Officer, Sunday Abutu said: “All victims were rescued today at about 1:30am but unfortunately, we lost the driver who was unexpectedly killed by the abductors.”
