INEC distributes sensitive election materials in Yobe ahead of senatorial bye-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has collaborated with political parties to carry out a joint inspection of sensitive election materials at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Yobe State before the materials are distributed to local government areas.

Mr. Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), highlighted the inclusive nature of the inspection, with an invitation extended to all stakeholders, particularly political parties with candidates in the running, to ensure transparency.

Abdullahi further detailed the participation of five political parties: ADC, APC, APGA, NNPP, and PDP, which have fielded candidates for the election.

Encouraging the electorate to exercise their voting rights, the REC urged them to participate in an orderly manner, adhere to rules and regulations, and refrain from actions that may disrupt peace at polling units or collation centres.

It could be recalled that the Yobe East Senatorial seat became vacant after the appointment of Senator Ibrahim Geidam as the Minister of Police Affairs by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
