Katsina Governor’s wife urges increased funding in the battle against cancer

Hajiya Zulaihat Radda, the Wife of the Katsina State Governor, has emphasized the need for enhanced funding to combat cancer in Nigeria.
Speaking during the 2024 World Cancer Day commemoration in Katsina, she highlighted the importance of improved funding to ensure quality healthcare accessibility and early detection of the disease.
Radda stressed the pivotal role of education and awareness in empowering individuals to make informed health choices and fostering a culture of prevention.
“On this occasion, I called for collective action, awareness, and support in the global fight against cancer, acknowledging the resilience of survivors and supporting those currently battling the disease”.

Reflecting on the indiscriminate nature of cancer, Radda underscored the urgent need for increased funding, access to quality healthcare, and a commitment to early detection.
She recognised the efforts of Nigerian governors’ spouses across the country in championing the fight against cancer.
While celebrating progress in research, treatment, and patient care, Radda sponsored mammography and pherpsmea for women, emphasizing the importance of early detection.
Despite advancements, she acknowledged that there is still work to be done and reiterated her commitment to partnerships for the development of health, education, empowerment, and addressing climate change.
Stakeholders at the event echoed the call for more collaborative efforts to combat cancer, emphasizing the importance of united action in facing this formidable adversary.
