Lagos police arrest woman for stabbing neighbour over water dispute

A woman identified as Cynthia Aigbodon has been apprehended by the police at 10 Tunkarimu Street, Ajegunle Apapa, Lagos, on Sunday night, for allegedly stabbing her neighbour, Barakat Adio, to death over water dispute.
This incident reportedly happened at a public borehole near their residences, escalating into a fatal confrontation.
Sources indicate that the dispute stemmed from a disagreement over water-fetching duties at the public borehole, although the real cause of the dispute remains undisclosed.

The victim’s husband promptly reported the incident to the Ajegunle divisional headquarters.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos Police Command, confirmed that the victim was rushed to the hospital following the stabbing but succumbed to her injuries upon arrival.
Homicide detectives swiftly responded to the scene, documenting evidence and recovering the weapon allegedly used in the assault.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect inflicted a fatal stab wound above the victim’s left rib. Subsequently, Cynthia Aigbodon was apprehended and taken into custody and the deceased was transferred to the mortuary for autopsy purposes.
The investigation into the motive and circumstances surrounding the altercation has commenced as law enforcement seeks justice for the victim, Barakat Adio.
