Netizens urge Elon Musk to tackle rising pornography trend on X platform
A surge in explicit content on the X platform, formerly Twitter, has prompted Nigerians to launch a social media campaign with the hashtag #BanPornonX, urging Elon Musk, the microblogging site’s owner, to take decisive action.
Netizens are calling on Musk to implement stringent measures to combat the widespread distribution of adult content, expressing concerns about potential exposure of underage users to explicit material. The campaign gained momentum on February 24, with users uniting to pressure Musk for intervention.
Despite X’s policies explicitly prohibiting unsolicited pornographic content, the platform has unintentionally become a hub for organized distribution. Content promoters employ various tactics, including disguising ads as regular content, frustrating avid users.

While X’s guidelines encourage flagging sensitive content, lax enforcement has allowed adult content to proliferate. Elon Musk, as of now, has not responded to escalating user demands.
