NLC suspends nationwide protests after one day
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has suspended its nationwide two-day protest on the first day and extended the ultimatum given to the Federal Government
According to the NLC, the suspension follows their National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
The Labour Union said objectives of the protest have already been achieved on the first day of the demonstration.
A communique issued at the end of the NEC meeting partly read:
“Consequently, NEC-in-session resolved as follows: to suspend street action for the second day of the protest having achieved overwhelming success thus attained the key objectives of the 2-day protest on Tuesday.”
Members of the NLC have stormed major cities in different states on Tuesday to protest government’s alleged failure to implement agreements reached between both parties on October 2, 2023, as a result of the removal of the fuel subsidy.
