Thieves kill popular photographer in Niger State, steal camera, laptop

A 33-year-old freelance photographer and father of three children, Zacheus Salawadeen, has been killed by three  unknown criminals.

The photographer was reportedly stabbed to death in the early hours of Tuesday at his residence in Tundun Fulani Area of Minna, Niger State.

Residents said that the killers invaded the flat where he resided with his family and stabbed him to death.

One of the sources said other tenants in the house were locked up by the killers who forcefully opened the door to the deceased’s flat.

The attackers were said to have stolen the deceased’s valuables including his laptop and camera.

The Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident.

He said, “On 27/2/2024 at about 0850hrs, it was reported at Bosso Division that on the same date at about 0330hrs, one Zacchy, 33yrs, of Tudun-Fulani, Minna was attacked in his house by a yet-to-be-identified person(s), who stabbed and robbed him of valuables. He was rushed to the IBB Hospital where he was confirmed dead.

“The police operatives at Bosso Division visited the scene. Some exhibits were recovered from the scene and preliminary investigation has commenced into the unfortunate incident,” he said.
