Tinubu, APC lack capacity, competence to lead Nigeria – PDP

Nigerian’s opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the federal government for attacking its governors who raised concerns about what they called the “failures of President Bola Tinubu and the APC government that have plunged Nigerians into unbearable suffering.”

Honourable Debo Ologunagba, the national publicity secretary of the party, issued a statement highlighting that the APC and the Tinubu led-administration are accountable for the current economic hardships and rising insecurity across the nation.

He emphasised that they appear overwhelmed and lack the necessary capacity and competence to lead a country like Nigeria.

According to the PDP spokesperson, by attempting to shift President Tinubu’s responsibilities to state governors, “the APC has essentially confessed to imposing an inadequate president on Nigerians who cannot ensure security and whose governance has crippled our national economy, leading to widespread hunger, despair, and desperation as seen in protests, discontent, and the increasing rate of suicide cases nationwide.”

In response, the ruling APC, through a statement by Mr. Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, defended President Tinubu’s actions, stating that he was implementing crucial and extensive reforms essential for the nation’s economic recovery, sustainable growth, and overall prosperity.

Regarding the PDP governors’ suggestion for Tinubu to resign due to the challenges faced by Nigerians, Morka acknowledged the governors’ right to free speech like all citizens but emphasised the importance of responsible expression.

He cautioned against making reckless statements that could incite tensions and social unrest in the country.
