VP Shettima heads delegation supporting Super Eagles in AFCON final
Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to lead a Federal Government delegation to the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) final on Sunday, where the Super Eagles will face hosts, Côte d’Ivoire, in a quest for continental glory, as confirmed by a statement from Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications.
Having previously represented President Bola Tinubu at the semi-finals, where Nigeria triumphed over South Africa, Shettima returns to Abidjan for the title decider.

The President emphasizes the unifying power of football and underscores Shettima’s presence as a testament to the government’s unwavering support for the team and dedication to their success.
In a call to all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, the Federal Government urges unity in support of the Super Eagles, encouraging citizens to raise their voices in encouragement and create a wave of national pride that propels the team to glory.
The Super Eagles secured their place in the AFCON final by defeating South Africa 4-2 in penalties. Nigeria aims to clinch a fourth AFCON trophy, with their last victory dating back to 2013.
