Troops raid Zamfara forest, rescue abducted mothers, babies after months

The soldiers of Operation Hadarin Daji successfully carried out a daring operation in Kuyambana Forest in Zamfara State.

Their efforts led to the liberation of two babies and five women who had been abducted in January 2024 from Marange Village in Kagara Local Government Area of Niger State.

Despite enduring months of captivity, the victims were finally freed due to the unwavering offensive actions carried out by the vigilant troops in the Kuyambana General area of Zamfara State.

The rescue of the two infants and five women was made possible by the relentless pressure exerted on the bandits by the troops, allowing the victims to escape from the terrorists’ strongholds.

The interception by the troops on March 13, 2024, marked the beginning of the victims’ journey to safety and freedom. Following their rescue, the victims underwent debriefing sessions and were swiftly handed over to the appropriate authorities for the necessary procedures to reunite them with their families.

Major General GM Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Sokoto, praised the tactical expertise and professionalism demonstrated by the troops during the rescue mission.

He applauded their commitment and encouraged them to continue their efforts until all criminal elements are eliminated, ensuring peace and normalcy are restored in the region.
