7 lives lost as bandits attack market in Plateau
A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Zurak Campani, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State as bandits carried out a violent attack in a bustling market.
The attack, which took place on Sunday, March 10, 2024, resulted in the loss of at least seven innocent lives.
Eyewitnesses recount the chaos and fear that gripped the market as the bandits unleashed terror on unsuspecting individuals going about their daily activities. Reports indicate that the gunmen stormed the market around 2 pm, disrupting the peace and tranquility of the bustling market day.

Abdullahi Hussaini, a local youth leader, confirmed the tragic event, highlighting the profound impact it has had on the community.
He said, “The gunmen arrived at the market in their numbers on motorcycles. They started shooting sporadically, killing seven people instantly while many others were injured. The gunmen successfully launched the attack and fled without any resistance because people were not expecting any security threat at the moment.
“The gunmen fled to the bush, but police personnel have been deployed to the community to restore law and other. We are calling on more security deployment in the area because we don’t know what may happen anytime soon.”
In the aftermath of this horrific attack, authorities in Plateau State are yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack.
