Air Force officer released after ransom payment, wife, cousin still in captivity
Nigerian Air Force Squadron Leader Nurudeen Popoola, who was abducted by suspected bandits in December last year, has been released after a ransom payment. Popoola is currently undergoing medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
The abduction took place at the residence adjacent to the National Eye Centre Quarters, Mando, Kaduna, where Popoola, his wife Ganiyat Olawale-Popoola, and their cousin Abdulmumin Folaranmi were taken.
The Air Force officer’s release was confirmed on Friday, and he is now in a hospital.
However, his wife and the cousin are still held in captivity. The family members expressed gratitude for Popoola’s release but urged continued prayers for the safe release of the remaining hostages.

A family member had previously appealed in February for the authorities to secure the release of the kidnapped victims.
The kidnappers, after receiving an undisclosed amount of money, released Popoola, while his wife and cousin remain in captivity.
