Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has launched the distribution of N50,000 each as cash support to One Thousand orphans(1000) Across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.

Governor Buni said, the support programme initiated by the present administration in the state to support and give the orphans in a sense of belonging especially during festivities.

He stated that, Qur’an encouraged people to support and provide succour to orphans and the needy in the society.

“I wish to commend individuals and organisations who have during this period of the holy month of Ramadan been providing food to the needy and other vulnerable persons, thereby complementing government efforts. This spirit of giving should be encouraged to go beyond the month of Ramadan.”

Governor Buni revealed that, a very good percentage of orphans have been enrolled and sponsored by the State government to pursue education from primary schools up to tertiary level within and outside the Country. Furthermore, many of them were enlisted in the Tsangaya Education System in the State and I am happy to note that they are making impressive performances.

“I wish to commend our clerics for reminding the people on the need, and the benefits of supporting the orphans. You should continue with such beautiful lessons both during and after the Ramadan fasting period.”
