Customs honored with National Award for regulatory compliance (Pictures)
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) garnered acclaim at the International Conference Center in Abuja on March 27, 2024, as it clinched the esteemed Award of Excellence in Regulatory Compliance from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Yusha’u Shu’aibu, Managing Director and CEO of Image Marchant Promotion Limited, emphasized that this recognition underscores the NCS’s dedication to maintaining regulatory standards and fostering effective communication practices.
The award was graciously received by the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, a distinguished figure within the Institute and the longest-serving National Public Relations Officer (NPRO) in the history of the Service.
In a testament to CGC Adeniyi’s leadership, representatives of the NIPR and IMPR praised his unwavering commitment, stating that “his leadership and dedication have been instrumental in shaping the NCS’s reputation for compliance and transparency, thus warranting this remarkable award.”
Amidst fierce competition, the Nigeria Customs Service emerged as the deserving recipient, surpassing contenders such as the Nigeria Communications Commission and Green Ville LNG, showcasing its steadfast commitment to regulatory standards and proactive compliance.

In another triumph, Chief Superintendent of Customs Abdullahi Maiwada, the NCS’s National Public Relations Officer, secured the prestigious title of ‘Best Spokesperson Of The Year 2024’ at the NIPR’s competitive awards ceremony.
Event organisers commended CSC Maiwada’s exceptional communication skills and strategic acumen, which have significantly enhanced the NCS’s public image and communication channels.
Expressing gratitude in his acceptance speech, CSC Maiwada acknowledged CGC Adeniyi’s unwavering support and mentorship, highlighting the pivotal role of effective leadership in organisational success.
He also extended appreciation to the dedicated members of the PR Unit at the NCS Headquarters and nationwide for their collaborative efforts in upholding the Service’s reputation.
