FG orders increased military operations in Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna

In  response  to  rising  banditry,  the Federal  Government  has  instructed the Military  High  Command  to  intensify operations  in  Zamfara,  Katsina,  and Kaduna  states,  aiming  to curb  the activities  of  bandits  in  the  region.

This directive  comes after  residents  of Gonin Gora, Kakau Ward, Chikun Local Government  Area  of  Kaduna  State, staged a protest, blocking the Kaduna-Abuja highway following the killing of two local vigilantes and the abduction of several individuals by bandits.

Minister  of  State  for  Defence,  Bello Matawalle,  addressing  the  press  in Abuja, clarified that the government is adamant about a more proactive strategy to dismantle bandits in the area.

He emphasized the need for collaboration among security agencies to eradicate insurgency and other forms of criminality in the North-West.

Matawalle underscored the paramount importance of citizens’ safety and well-being, asserting that decisive action is necessary to tackle the challenges of terrorism and banditry in the communities.

He stated, “Enhanced security in the region will not only safeguard the lives and properties of our people but also improve the quality of farming and irrigation.”

The minister highlighted that with increased security, farmers can cultivate their lands without fear of attacks, thereby ensuring food security and economic prosperity for the region.

Matawalle concluded by expressing President Bola Tinubu’s determination to confront insecurity directly and ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.

He called for cooperation from all stakeholders to support security agencies in their efforts to eliminate criminal elements from the region.
