FG summons AEDC, IBEDC, TCN bosses over poor power supply
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has taken action against the Chief Executives of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) due to the worsening power supply in their respective regions.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Managing Director, Sule Ahmed Abdulazeez, is also summoned over the declining power situation.
In a statement by his media aide, Bolaji Tunji, the Minister emphasized that “wilful non-performance by any DISCO could suffice as a reason for severe punishment or outright license revocation.”

The Minister plans to meet with the discos next week and has directed TCN to initiate repair works on damaged transmission towers and power lines.
Despite challenges, the ministry is pressuring Generating Companies (GENCOs) to enhance performance, aiming to improve the present 4000MW generation.
The Minister recently visited various power plants, assuring plans to settle outstanding debts, bringing relief to electricity consumers nationwide. While appealing for patience, he remains committed to transforming the power sector.
