Fire in Lagos market destroys valuables worth millions
A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Lagos as a massive fire ravaged shops located in the Nnamdi Azikiwe and Docemo sections of the Idumota Market.
The blaze, which broke out in the early hours of Wednesday, engulfed three buildings, including two two-storey structures and one three-storey building that housed various items such as clothes, bags, and shoes.
The destructive fire caused significant damage, resulting in the loss of goods worth hundreds of millions of Naira.

Fortunately, emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, swiftly arrived at the scene to combat the blaze and prevent further devastation.
“The Fire stations at Ebute Elefun, Ilupeju and Alausa have deployed resources to mitigate the situation effectively as firefighting operations is ongoing,” said Fire Service boss, Margaret Adeseye.
“The cause of the Fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing. Casualties have not been confirmed at this time.”
Adeseye urged residents to cooperate with emergency personnel and avoid the area for their safety.
