Killers of military personnel in Delta won’t go unpunished, Tinubu vows

President Bola Tinubu has vehemently denounced the brutal killing of military personnel in Delta State, pledging that the perpetrators, whom he branded as “cowardly,” will face the full weight of justice.

Last week, a commanding officer, two majors, one captain, twelve soldiers, and a civilian were brutally murdered in the Okuama community of Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State during a rescue mission.

In response to the tragedy, Tinubu released a statement on Sunday evening, condemning the killings as “unprovoked” and “dreadful.”

“As the Commander-in-Chief, I stand with all patriotic Nigerians and our armed forces to mourn and express deep sorrow over the unnecessary loss of our brave soldiers,” Tinubu stated.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, their comrades, and loved ones, assuring that the military leadership is already addressing the incident. Tinubu emphasized that those responsible for the cowardly act will face the consequences of their actions.

Tinubu highlighted the inherent dangers faced by servicemen and women in the line of duty, praising their heroism, courage, and unwavering patriotism.

“As a nation, we must always honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to safeguard our nation,” he stressed.

Tinubu underscored the critical role of the armed forces in Nigeria’s nationhood, asserting that any attack on them is an attack on the nation itself.

He authorized the Defence Headquarters and Chief of Defence Staff to take decisive action to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice.

“My administration will continue to pursue peace and stability in every corner of Nigeria,” Tinubu affirmed.
