Outrage over brutal killing of Taraba State cleric, wife, missing son

The Forum of the clergy of Tiv descent in Bali and Gashaka local government councils of Taraba State has voiced profound distress over the alleged savage killing of Rev. Abah Jacob and his wife, Mirrian.

The couple, alongside several others, reportedly fell victim to suspected militia youths last week in Mararaba, Donga local government council.

During a press briefing convened on Saturday, the clergy expressed dismay over what they perceived as a lack of prompt action from authorities in addressing the tragic killings.

Under the leadership of their chairman, Ven. Nathaniel Saawua, they implored for assistance from compassionate individuals to aid the victims and their families in navigating the physical and emotional toll of the ordeal.

According to the clergy’s account, Rev. Jacob and his wife met a gruesome end in Mararaba town, with their lifeless bodies discovered discarded at Mount Zion, a local school.

Disturbingly, Rev. Jacob’s remains were reportedly charred beyond recognition, leaving apprehension surrounding the whereabouts of his son, Kumator, who remains unaccounted for.

Before the harrowing incident, it was gathered that Rev. Jacob served as a pastor with The African Church, Kyado Archdeaconry, stationed at The African Church Adi Parish in Bali Local Government Council.

As disclosed by the forum, the fatal event unfolded as the family journeyed to their hometown in Ukum Local Government Council, Benue State.

Expressing their dismay over the apparent inaction of the government, the clergy underscored that the assault also claimed the lives of seven other innocent Tiv commuters, including Michael Ukari, Terundu Michael, Terna Orya, Sansani, Erdoo Aluga, Jacob Ternenge, Msega Joseph Mvihi, and Aondofa Member.

The clergy fervently urged authorities to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice for the victims.

The grievous loss of Reverend Jacob and the others has reverberated through the community, highlighting the pressing need for robust security measures to forestall further bloodshed.
