Police parade lawyer accused of brutalising 10-year-old maid
An Anambra-based female lawyer, Mrs. Adachukwu Chukelu Okafor, recently faced public scrutiny as police personnel paraded her at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Neptune Prime earlier reported that the lawyer had allegedly subjected her maid, 10-year-old Happiness Nwafor, to severe abuse using a hot knife and electric iron.
The story unfolded when the Anambra State Command of the Nigerian Police Force launched a manhunt for Okafor following the disturbing incident.
Tens of women from Umuada Awgu Progressive Association and Umuada Awgu Global protested against the assault on Nwafor, who was taken into Okafor’s households to assist in household chores.
Narratives of the incident revealed that Nwafor was punished with extreme brutality after touching Okafor’s daughter, resulting in grave injuries sustained from the hot knife and electric iron.

Okafor was wanted by the federal and state Ministries of Women Affairs, triggering a bounty of N2 million placed on her.
Following public outrage and pressure, Okafor surrendered to the police, who subsequently detained her and transferred her to the Force Headquarters.
Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, emphasized a firm stance against domestic violence and child abuse, vowing to pursue a thorough prosecution in the case.
During the parade at the Force Headquarters, the Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy, and Police Campaign against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) representative, Bisi Okuobi, ensured the gravity of the situation was addressed.
Okuobi recounted the horrific details of Nwafor’s maltreatment and the subsequent actions taken by law enforcement agencies and the community to bring justice to the victim.
