Seven students feared dead in Nasarawa rice stampede

Seven students from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, are feared dead after a stampede erupted while they were vying for rice intended as palliative aid from the state government.

According to reports, the students forcibly entered a warehouse where the food supplies were stored, overpowering security personnel stationed at the university around 5 a.m. on Friday.

The rush for the palliative aid resulted in chaos, leading to the fatal stampede.

It is reported that some students, who were supposed beneficiaries of the government’s aid, possessed identification cards allowing them entry to the distribution venue.

However, the situation escalated as more students flooded in, overwhelming security measures and triggering the tragic incident.
