Teenager takes own life over theft allegations
Ojibe Chibueze, a 17-year-old boy, tragically took his own life in Lagos after being accused of stealing N100,000 from his employer.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed that investigations are underway to determine the events leading to the teenager’s death.
Chibueze was reported missing before his family discovered his lifeless body, marking a heartbreaking end to his young life.

The police image maker said; “Today, at about 07:hours, one Cynthia reported at Elemore division that her brother, Ojibe Chibueze, aged 17 came back from work at about 20:00 of 11/03/24, took some money and went out.
“She stated further that the master of the boy, where he worked later called her and informed her that her brother stole the sum of one hundred thousand naira from his shop”.
The Lagos police image maker continued; “The complainant further stated that the said Ojibe Chibueze did not come back home till she received a phone call from one of her neighbours that she saw her brother lying dead at Abijo bus stop after which she rushed to the scene and met her brother’ s lifeless body with a plastic of Sniper beside him, which she presumed that he drank.
“On the receipt of the report, detectives of the division visited the scene and foam was gushing out of his mouth and nose.
“The can of the Sniper has been recovered as an exhibit. The corpse has been removed and deposited at Epe General Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation. Investigation is ongoing”.
